Coding Dreams into Reality
Established in 2024, AI For Girls is a Toronto-based non-profit organization dedicated to nurturing curiosity and fostering passion for Artificial Intelligence amongst girls. Our programs are spearheaded and organized by enthusiastic youths, with invaluable support from volunteers, ranging from mentors to professionals to parents, who all share our commitment to empowering girls.
Founder's Message
My name is Qianhao Han, a ninth-grade student who has always held an immense interest towards technology and technological advancements, particularly Artificial Intelligence. I grew up with the Internet by my side constantly, and immersed myself in exploring the endless possibilities of what it can offer, yet I realized the importance of sharing these experiences with others. This realization led me to delve into robotics, coding and machine learning, participating in various competitions, such as FIRST Lego League (FLL), World Robot Olympiad (WRO), VEX IQ, Technovation Girls, VEX Robotics Competition (VRC), and FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC).
Through these experiences, I noticed a significant disparity - fewer girls were actively engaged in these activities. Many seemed to focus on other pursuits primarily due to a range of reasons - lack of interest, lack of direction, lack of opportunities, and lack of curiosity to the vast world of technology, Artificial Intelligence and machine learning. Inspired to bridge the gap and drawing from my own experiences, I founded AI For Girls, a platform and program aimed at guiding and empowering girls to navigate and explore the world of Artificial Intelligence, while unlocking their potential to become the next.
As a generation that grew up with the internet being our closest companion, I’ve come to recognize that we often overlook the intricate workings of technology, failing to question or become curious about how it works. With AI For Girls, one of my goals is to nurture a sense of curiosity and confidence in girls to not only understand but also actively participate in shaping the future of technology.
Our Mission
Determined to change the narrative, AI For Girls, embarks on a mission to spark curiosity and empower girls to step into the realm of Artificial Intelligence. We recognize that every girl has immense potential within them and believe that by providing them with the necessary resources, support and opportunities, we can nurture them to confidently thrive in the field of Artificial Intelligence and become a cornerstone of the future. Through our innovative programs, immersive workshops and mentorship initiatives, we strive to equip girls with not just skills and knowledge, but also a passion for technology.
